Blog Improvements
December 27th, 2007

Hey guys,

I’ve done some improvements to my blog and therefore some features are out and some new ones are in. What’s changed:

  1. I’ve created a structured monthly archives page to make the sidebar more lighter and allow people to make some sense of it.
  2. I’ve replaced the default WordPress[1] search with a brand new search powered by Google. The default WordPress search was absolutely horrible.
  3. No more “smooth loading”[2] of the content. I had some problems with that feature (videos not showing in Internet Explorer, problems when loading the page, etc.) so I’ve removed it. Hopefully I’ll find a solution soon.
  4. The radio doesn’t start automatically anymore. The main reason is the removal of the “smooth loading” feature. If I would have kept the auto-play, the player would have started automatically at each page load and this can be quite annoying. I usually put up a song every time I post so that there is a nice sound background to the post you’re reading. Just start the player yourself from now on. Player is starting just on the homepage, posts feel empty without it. Continue reading »

Life is good
December 17th, 2007

AIESEC Romania AlumniI’ve been writing less lately, especially because my laptop broke down and I couldn’t write from home anymore. After a long time I have it back and now I’ll try to write more often.

I can say that life’s good right now, there is no need to complain about the small challenges or little things I’m dealing with every day. I do realize I have a lot: relative health, family, real good friends, a job, a bank account, what to eat and a roof over my head; All this and the fact that I’ve been traveling around Europe this year, visited 5 countries[1], some of them twice and spent more than 3 months abroad. This is quite something :).

Right now I strongly feel the need to settle down. I want stability on personal level, more than anything. I’ve started spending more on myself, and I’m taking steps to bring more balance in my life. I want to live a healthier life, stop abusing this body of mine by working all day, eating one time a day mostly junk food, and sleeping 4 hours a night. I’m trying to get myself to exercise, swim, get out in the open. I’m not 18 anymore and it shows, whenever I’m stepping over the limit.

Going down
September 20th, 2007

No excuses anymore:
It’s been a month … I don’t know why in the last month, whenever I opened this page, I didn’t manage to get myself to write anything. It’s not that nothing happened this last month, but I just didn’t feel like writing. I decided not to say “sorry” whenever I don’t post for a longer period. It’s stupid. It’s my blog and I’ll update it whenever I feel like updating it. This blog is supposed to be about me, about my experiences and some of my feeling and I won’t post just to have another piece of text in here. Judge me if you like, this is one thing I won’t change here.

In the last month was “the month of things not happening”:
The start of my own business is now uncertain. I hate when I’m depending on others to reach my goals. Now because two of my friends not getting along with eachother, I’m back to square one. I also had to turn down some very good offers. After all that planning and dreaming I’m now rethinking my options and trying to find the determination to get this going. Deadlines have moved to next year. One down.

March update
March 26th, 2007

Heey!

Yep, I haven’t had any revelations lately :), so it’s going to be a short update about what I’m still up to:

Well firstly, I’ve been last weekend to Bucharest to the “IBM Academic Days”. It’s been supposed to be a very informative conference about how IBM can cooperate with the Academic institutions in Romania. Well … it was ahem … bullshit. I was expecting far more from IBM than offering cool coffee breaks and good dinners at Hilton hotel. I was amazed to see how some of the speakers (sales men) were laking basic presentation skills. The content wasn’t customized for the academic market at all … it was like selling sessions for a big company, also the agenda was delayed by 1,5 hours on the first day. I’m aware that they presented also their educational cooperations and programs but they manged to present it in an almost unintelligible form. I think 2 of the ~8 sessions were really worth watching. As I said before, an university doesn’t need to “manage it’s business processes”, it has none :D, we live in Romania and you need to adapt your presentations to this particular market.

Major blog update
February 16th, 2007

Hey guys,

I’ve updated my blog recently, introducing some new features to make life easier. It’s now compatible with Internet Explorer 7 and the latest version of Opera, has a radio and cool dynamic history links. It may not look much but this is a complete new version of WordPress, the publishing software I’m using for my blog.

Another development I’ve made is “Lion’s Radio”. Because many of you were listening to the music I’ve uploaded, I decided to make things easier for you. “Lion’s Radio” is an extended version of the player you can see at the top of my blog, included Album Art and Lyrics makes selecting the right tune easier for you. To start “Lion’s Radio” click the “Start Lion’s Radio” link on the top right corner. To close it, click the “Close Lion’s Radio” link available in the same spot. I hope you like it :)

I’ll write in my next posts, about my experience in Austria this week. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
The Lion ;).[1]
