Hey guys,
Long time no see. I know, I should write more. I just need to be in a writing mood … that’s all.
There have been some developments lately, which made me spend more time with people from AIESEC. I think I will involve to some extent as long as I still know the people.
I’ve been to 3 conferences just in the last month … well perhaps just one real conference, “Leaders of Tomorrow” in Bucharest, the other 2 were the AIESEC Sibiu and AIESEC Constanta takeovers. Ah … and I forgot to mention the Paintball game.
Leaders of Tomorrow was one of the best conferences I’ve attended lately. It was held in Bucharest and consisted of a series of company presentations and trainings, very useful and to the point for new Alumni. The topics covered what companies expect from employees, how it’s like to manage a business, HR and Management issues, interviews, job opportunities and much more.
I’ve also enjoyed it because we managed to gather up a very cool crowd and had lot’s of fun. Let’s say I’ve had also my first real clash with one very close friend, and it wasn’t nice. Guess we’ve learned a lot about each other and perhaps we will avoid hurting one another like that in the future.
I also realized that some people do actually like Bucharest. I simply can’t like it. My allergies went through the roof during my stay there. I also don’t like not being able to be alone (it was crowded even in the city parks) or the constant humming of this big city (even at night).
I’ve also managed to see some of my friends in Bucharest and in the end we’ve jumped back in the train heading home. It’s been fun.
I was offered a free ride by one of the members to the AIESEC Sibiu Takeover[1] so I couldn’t miss out a cool weekend. I must also admit I was somewhat curious getting to know the new members (I know, I know. It’s just not under my control). On the way out of town it turned out it’s a very small we’re living on: we meet with a friend of mine which I haven’t seen for a very long time. He’s a mutual fiend with our driver ;). I used this opportunity to ride along in his brand new looking BMW and chat about old times.
LTS was OK, of course I’ve involved in the team buildings, danced around over and under slept. We also had barbecue till 4 AM, well just the cooking took that long. Eating everything up was extremely fast :).
On our way back, we managed to stuff 7 people and luggage in Nicu’s car, who btw. is one of the nicest people I’ve meet. Somewhere halfway to Sibiu a Cow nearly ran into the car :D. Yeah we laughed our heads of several minutes later, but if it weren’t for the good brakes and Nicu’s reflexes this could have ended nasty. The day ended just fine enjoying some delicious cookies prepared by Nicu’s grandmother.
I was Paintballing for the first time in some crazy event organized by a student organization here. AIESEC was also invited to make a team. I teamed up with Alex … a crazy friend of mine, and we ended on the losing side :D. I still made a kill right in the chest … hehehe. Diddy said I’m among the people who shouldn’t be allowed to carry a gun. And he’s probably right. I simply enjoyed it too much!
I’ve arrived on the last evening at the AIESEC Constanta Takeover, mainly because it was organized at around 25 km from Sibiu and 2 very cool people were also there: Luki and Sorin. Shortly after our arrival, I realized I didn’t knew anyone anymore. I hoped that at least Stefan, one of the few members of AIESEC Constanta I still knew, would be there. After a while I finally managed to see some familiar faces, one of them was surprisingly Ervin, which I meet as a newie. He’s in the EB now. We’ll try to keep in touch this time :).
AIESEC Constanta has somewhat changed since I left AIESEC. I distinctly remembered feeling old. Most of them were 7 to 9 years younger than me. Flattering tough: a member placed my age at 22 :D. What I liked about them was the passion and energy on most of them. They’re a bunch of good young people. I spent some time profiling with Luki some of the members. We ended up pin-pointing the same member as high potential. Turns out I still have what it takes :).
In all I didn’t mingle a lot with them. It’s the thing I never understood at the Alumni: They manage to create some sort of cold distance between them and the newies. Thing is … now, I’m one of them. When I helped at the clean-up they were somewhat impressed. I’m used to clean up, did it my whole time in AIESEC :D.
One last thing: I barely remembered Adriana[2]. I never got to know her well enough and perhaps it’s just how life is, but her passion and dedication certainly made an impression on me.
Luki and Sorin were after the conference my guests for a day or so and we walked the streets and corners of my (beautiful) city. They decided[3] to stay another night in Sibiu, so I hosted them at my place. It was cool to spend some time with them outside of AIESEC. I think it’s the first with them. They’re just some of the few people close to my heart and have their own place in there.
Over and out,
The Lion.[4]

You don’t like Bucharest because it was crowded and the constant humming, I was thinking what would in India where is not only one city but the whole country in similar characteristics, well at the end what matter is the experience of living it or not?
