I was never a good dancer … well maybe at AIESEC dances :) Anyway, last Wednesday I we were invited to take a crash course Salsa lesson by our lovely Sabine.

After work we walked across town, to a bar near Erasmus Bridge. After some refreshments we were invited below, into the “classroom” :). We started with basic moves and advanced rather quickly to more advanced stuff. I must say tough it looks pretty simple, when it comes to repeat the moves yourself, it’s a whole different story. Sabine and her boyfriend are really good at this. They cracked jokes, explained everything in detail and used very cool methods to prevent us from making basic mistakes.

After 2 hours we were all deadly tired. I think I still need a lot of lessons :) but I managed for my first one. Sabine invited us to a Salsa club called “The Beach” at the “Niew Maas” river to practice what we learned.

Remember what I always told you about trying new things? Remember Titanic? Some of you might have found the movie stupid … I for one liked it and learned from it. Rose promised she will follow her dreams … and she did. She really lived her life as it were not tomorrow, she loved as she would never love again. She dies happy in the end surrounded by all her memories all the things she’s done, all the people she touched. I wish we all could go like that.

PS: No pictures this time … we were to busy getting our moves right.

Cheers,
The Lion.

I love water, this is one of the reasons I like The Netherlands so much. Everywhere you look is a canal, a lake or the open sea. I choose to see Kinderdijk this weekend … mainly because it because it involved a 35 minutes boat ride.

Saturday it poured down all day and the sky cleared just 20 minutes before our departure. Nothing unusual in The Netherlands. Weather here changes from sunshine to heavy rain and vice-versa in just a few minutes.

Chillin’ …
June 29th, 2007

It’s been 2 weeks … Its fine, I’m accommodating gradually with the new life style, cultures, work style, food and time zone. It’s going to be a b*tch coming back and doing this all over again :)

Last week I was convinced to have a long walk around the city to a Jazz Club. I’ve seen some parts of Rotterdam I didn’t know existed. It’s been fun … a 70 year old guy at the drums was the heart of the show. We “enjoyed” a 0,2 l beer at 2,5 EUR, and talked a lot.

I got a new roommate, which is quite cool as I’m not alone anymore, and have someone to share my thoughts. I think I’m beginning to enjoy his presence, mostly because he’s genuinely interested in everything you do. I believe he needs to clarify all aspects of what you’re doing and therefore puts a lot of questions. Having a technical background like myself, helps a lot ;).

Another thing we were up to is “Unreal Tournament”. He he he … one of the directors, which happens to be my flat mate, gathered all the needed software and people. We kicked a**. It’s been a while since I last had so much fun playing … imagine 6-7 grown-ups screaming like crazy, calling each other using nicknames in the AI Office: “Ha! Pathetic”, “I got the flag, I got the flag …”, “Killing spree!!!”, “Duck!!! Shoot, shoot … aaah darn!”, etc.

Won some, lost some, had loads of fun, will do it again soon :)

That’s it for now,
The Lion.

Memories
I never thought I would be back here for another CEED. It’s been two years since. I remember the last days, as if it were today. I was so broken up, wanted to leave, wanted to stay … I knew that I would probably not see most of those amazing people again, that I will miss this way of life a lot. Rotterdam, Sweningen Lake, Utrecht, The Hague, The Tulip Garden in Leiden and some other places are still vivid in my memory. I miss Pixi a lot. He’s given me the experience of my lifetime … I’ll never forget that.

Before
I tried to see all of my close friends before leaving … didn’t manage. I got tough in the last evening home some very nice surprises from the friends in AIESEC.

Sunday at 5 AM, Lumi was waiting for me in the Bus Station. I was taking the bus to Bucharest to catch my flight. She’s going away in Kirghizstan (MC) for a year and I’m not going to be back in time to see her leave. It was hard, I hate goodbyes … why do we always take friends for granted and realize how important they are just when we’re about to lose them? From my EB teams most of the people are gone, scattered around the world or in other cities. It’s hard, I really hate change … but then again this is how life is.

If you don’t have time or want to scrub this mail out of your Inbox as fast as possible, just move it to another place and read it another time or don’t read it at all. Well, haven’t posted here in a while. I thought I should not tell you what I’ve been seeing this weekend, or that I’ve been in Germany or seen a national park. I decided to tell you what I’m thinking in this moments instead.
