Heey!
Yep, I haven’t had any revelations lately :), so it’s going to be a short update about what I’m still up to:
Well firstly, I’ve been last weekend to Bucharest to the “IBM Academic Days”. It’s been supposed to be a very informative conference about how IBM can cooperate with the Academic institutions in Romania. Well … it was ahem … bullshit. I was expecting far more from IBM than offering cool coffee breaks and good dinners at Hilton hotel. I was amazed to see how some of the speakers (sales men) were laking basic presentation skills. The content wasn’t customized for the academic market at all … it was like selling sessions for a big company, also the agenda was delayed by 1,5 hours on the first day. I’m aware that they presented also their educational cooperations and programs but they manged to present it in an almost unintelligible form. I think 2 of the ~8 sessions were really worth watching. As I said before, an university doesn’t need to “manage it’s business processes”, it has none :D, we live in Romania and you need to adapt your presentations to this particular market.

It’s been two weeks since I’ve returned from Austria and still didn’t manage to put up some words about it.
I don’t know where to begin. It’s my first business trip abroad. How this all started? Well it’s kinda’ complicated to explain it all. The main idea is that myself and my boss got involved in a knowledge exchange between Salzburg University and “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu. The University payed for plane tickets from Sibiu to Munchen, from where we had to take a train to Salzburg. We stayed at a very nice old professor for about 5 days. I can’t say I’ve seen much of Germany but I managed to see a lot of Salzburg.
