Last month was the month were the personal projects I’m working on began to take shape.

What’s it all about? Well I’m involved basically in 2 things … one is about an Online game where I’m providing technical knowledge and support and the second one is an fresh established N.G.O called “The Political Cafe” where I’m doing mainly Marketing and Human Resources.

A couple of months ago, Paul had a crazy idea of creating an Online game similar to Travian. At first it really sounded crazy, but after a few chats he convinced me to join the game team and we started the work for the business plan. The game is now in production and it’s very exciting to watch every day new features unfold. It’s scheduled to go live somewhere after the 15th of January after all beta testing is complete. If you want you can check it out here: http://mmog.zeno.ro. Please keep in mind it’s still under heavy development.

Becoming an Alumnus
December 21st, 2006

NPS 2006 Alumni Well, it took some time to get back on track. I’ve had a pretty busy month. Let’s start then, where was I? Ah yes … Becoming an Alumnus. Well, I’m doing it for 1 year: getting out of AIESEC. For everyone its a different experience, some choose not to look back, some choose to gradually move out. For me not looking back was not an option. It would have broken me apart. AIESEC is addictive and letting go means changing a way of life that defined me for the last 5 years. And it’s hard, very hard to substitute what AIESEC gives you with the things you find in real life.

I’ve been to NPS some three weeks ago, and realized it’s finally over. It’s been a long but steady process and I finally accepted it and moved on. It no longer takes my breath a way, it no longer scares me to start new.

Letter to myself
November 22nd, 2006

Yesterday, I received a letter. At first I thought “that’s strange, I almost never receive personal letters”. As I looked closer I noticed that the handwriting was very similar to my own!? I rushed, opened the letter and figured it out: It was a letter I’ve exactly one year ago at the last session of My Super-NPS, it was a letter dedicated to myself. I’ll try to summarize some of what I’ve written then bellow.

At that time I was standing at crossroads was undecided and needed to make some choices. “I’m so good in giving advice to others and as usually cannot make choices for myself. Should I run for MC? Should I find a traineeship? Should I leave AIESEC and start my life [...] I wish to stay and give another year to AIESEC, on the other hand thinking of what Oltea said to me, is this going to be a barrier in my development?”.

That was also a time to think about my dreams … “I want to do something valuable, something that really makes a difference [...] and based on what I like, to help developing people [...] Get out of your comfort zone, chase your dreams”.

I was also trying hard to make sure I’m gonna keep the people that mattered around me, to spend more time with them, be a real friend for once :) “I want to spend my time with the people dear to me [...] keep the people that matter close to me”.

Receiving this letter was mind-blowing for me. It really helps you redefine your priorities and lets reminds you of what’s really important to you, it brings back memories, makes you re-live some of those moments.

My “Last” LTS
November 20th, 2006

Me Painted Every year I keep telling myself “this is my last LTS”. I decided to drop this phrase, every year the same thing happens: I find myself on the LTS facilitators list. LTS was my first real AIESEC Conference where I had the most fun, where I discovered my first role-models, where I made my first friends, the place where I fell in love with AIESEC :).

If I look back I have so many memories, so many flash-backs from the last five years. I’ve seen five generation of people coming and going, many of them looking so scared and disoriented at first, growing, learning fast, becoming confident and bold and doing some of the most craziest and amazing things.

This LTS was special … well like every LTS is. For me, it felt good to work with old friends from Cluj-Napoca and Targu Mures, to watch the newies glow :), to actually mingle with some very bright people. I don’t know about you, but I find it most rewarding seeing people grow, having these “a-ha moments”, literally changing before your eyes. One of the sugar cubes I got was saying “I’m impressed with the intensity that you love people around you”. I can’t help it. Its a feeling I got at this conference, like being swamped with these emotions, these feelings. How can one not be touched by it?

In not so many words, I loved this LTS, it supercharged me with energy and positive feelings. This is what’s addicting about AIESEC :). This is why I’ll keep coming back. This is why I still go to the LC Meetings.

Message for the newies:
AIESEC has given me wings and learned me how to fly, maybe in one morning some of you will watch yourself in the mirror and see a shining pair of shiny white wings, maybe you’ll learn someday how to spread these wings and fly. It’s the most amazing feeling you’ll ever get. Don’t be afraid of what lies inside you, embrace the unknown and uncertain, be confident in your own powers, rediscover yourself and realize there are no limits of what you can do … and you’ll certainly get those wings.

Genuine smile
October 28th, 2006

Lion You might ask me, why I walk every morning to work. Why no matter the weather I always prefer to walk? Not so long ago I used to take a cab every morning to work. To tell you the truth, it was fast and comfortable but still. Nowadays, I prefer to walk.

Why? Because I get the coolest feeling walking down the street, listening to my favorite tune on my super phone, having my black sunglasses on, singing along with the tune I’m listening to. On the way to work I look for peoples faces and expressions. Some are worried, some sad, some bitter, some happy, some laughing. It’s gonna sound stupid, but I try to give a genuine smile to the worried, sad or bitter faces. Sometimes I get a weird look back, but most of the time I see their faces light up, lips stretching, worries and bitter disappear and I get the same genuine smile back. How is this possible, that something so little as a genuine smile can make worries, bitterness, sadness fade away? By giving away so little, I’ve lighten up someone’s day, perhaps only by a brief moment, but it’s something. It’s like building up my happy mood on my way to work and it’s sometimes helping me go trough a hard day.

You might wonder why I started this…
